The 2025 naturalization civics test consists of 128 questions about American government and history. During your naturalization interview, a USCIS officer will ask you up to 20 questions from this list.
You must answer at least 12 out of 20 questions correctly to pass the 2025 version of the civics test.
If you are 65 years old or older and have been a lawful permanent resident for 20+ years, you may study just 20 specially marked questions and take the test in your preferred language.
You may file Form N-400 90 days before completing your continuous residence requirement if you've been a permanent resident for at least 5 years (or 3 years if married to a U.S. citizen).
