The 2025 version of the test expanded from 100 to 128 questions covering American government, history, and civic values.

You must answer 12 of 20 correctly

A USCIS officer will ask up to 20 questions during your interview. You need at least 12 correct to pass.

65/20 special consideration

If you're 65+ and have been a permanent resident for 20+ years, you study only 20 marked questions and can test in your language.

File Form N-400 to apply

You can file 90 days before meeting the continuous residence requirement. Visit uscis.gov for details.
